Open Question: After a root canal, what dietary considerations should I make?
I had a root canal performed on my molar today. (It was the 3rd last tooth in my upper right mouth, including my wisdom tooth). The dentist also had to perform "endo" and then cleared out the 3 canals. My appointment rain into 3 hours, so we didn't have time to "fill" my tooth today - I'm going back on Friday for that. The filling I'll get on Friday isn't a crown. In the meantime, I have a hollow & fragile tooth in my mouth. I was too sore tonight to eat anything besides jello. But since I have to go all week like this, I was wondering what would it be safe for me to eat? Should I try to avoid most solid foods, or would some soft solids (ie salmon, smoothy peanut butter sandwiches, pasta) be ok? And will my tooth still be this fragile after I receive the filling? I don't know if I have the money for a crown, I'm on a special financial plan as it is just for the root canal.
