Open Question: 1/6 Payscale - what does this mean in a job advertisement?
Hi there.
I may sound a little daft with this one but...
...I'm looking for a new job and a few of the positions I am interested in give a pay scale/grade instead of a set salary amount.
e.g. Pay Scale: 1/6 (£11,540-22,750)
I was wondering how to interpret this. Does the '1/6' mean that I would start on level 1 and gradually go up to level 6 or do you think my starting grade will depend on my experience if I were to get an interview (i.e. 1 of the 6)?
I realise I could just email the company in question but asking about money never seems like a good idea and the advert really isn't clear. There is no "depending on experience" or similar, predictable blurb. Hmm.
I'd be grateful to receive some advice!
Grey.
