Financial talk

i just bought a 1987 acura integra. I havent even got to enjoy the car because i believe the tranny is gone out in it. when i first got it, it would shift out of first but it would red line before doing so. now it wont even shift out of 1st at all. i read on the internet it could be bunch of things but i figured you guys may no a little more than some. the internet said it could be a modulator valve but i called like every auto part store and they say they dont make modulator valves for this car. i dont have a lot of money and i dont want to spend $1000 on a rebuilt tranny. help me! thanx
