Open Question: 2001 Eclipse V6 - Interference Engine - Timing Belt Busted !!!?
The timing belt bust on my 2001, Eclipse GT, V6, 75k miles. Was driving like 40 mph when the engine shut down. Sounded like a baby rattle in the engine for a few seconds. Anyway one shop says the engine is fried because the valves and pistons have been damaged beyond repair. Another says, he for $400 we can try a new timing belt and see what happens and it might start. I'm thinking I'm throwing good money after bad with any repair and should just sell the car for parts.
