Open Question: How do I respond to a civil summons?
I got a notice of electronic filing for a civil summons, me versus a reality where I used to rent. It says I need to respond to the charges within 14 days. I've heard there's a form I'm supposed to respond on, but I wasn't given one. Can I just write a letter? Does my answer have to be hand delivered or can I mail it? I can't afford a lawyer, and I really need help. I am going to agree that I owe them the money, as I see that as my only option. (I do owe them most of it, the interest, I assume, is non-negotiable.). So...can I respond with a letter or on a form? If I respond wrong, will it count as not a response at all?
