Open Question: I got suspended for property damage?

I'm a very hard worker, honest to a fault, and on top of all that I'm bright and cheerful, no attitude problems that anyone's ever brought up. I do have a hard time paying attention to what I'm doing, but I deal with it. In any case, today at work a girl in the break room had the soda machine steal her money, the bottle got stuck just out of reach, we could see it and everything, so this other guy and I tried to rock the machine and get it down, didn't work. Two hours later a my supervisor calls me in and starts comparing me to a little kid and berating me for vandalism. I was completely speechless, then he pulls out photos of his wall, it was scraped by the machine, now how it happened I don't know, I didn't think we even rocked the machine in that direction. But it happened, and we likely did it because we're the only ones that got seen rocking the pop machine. So in a nutshell, I took full responsibility for the damage to the wall and offered to fix it(I've got lots of drywall experience) he refuses to let me fix it, and says that if his maintenance guy can't fix it I'm facing vandalism charges, sends me home for three days and gives me a final-warning writeup, (I'm a telemarketer, a final-warning writeup basically means you'll last as long as you get lucky with the dialing list; a week max and I'm fired.) In anticipation I have a stack of job apps. Should I quit now just to avoid having to lie on all of them? I don't want to say “yes I work somewhere, no you may not talk to them” and I don't want to lie about whether or not I'm working either. Also: can he really charge me with vandalism? Is that a serious charge?
