Financial talk

Hi i quit my job last year, but recently applied for edd and got accepted, but however it was months later that i applied for this unemployment program to get a lil extra money to pay for bills while im looking for a job. but i got an interview call today from a former gentlemen from EDD. and he was questioning why i quit, and i said because of slow business, the store is closing so i left early to look for another career. But he was telling me that i lied on my application , because i put" termination" instead of " voluntary quit" now he said they will send a letter within 10 business day to review my EDD and decide either to keep sending me the check or terminate my application. My question is, am i going to have to pay for the check i received( i only received 1 check so far). or will there be a penalty for lying to the government. Please help!!!
