Open Question: Is it legal to carry more than $10,000 on the plane. Can someone be in trouble?

Is it legal to carry more than $10,000 on the plane. Can someone be in trouble? Can it be confiscated? Should it be reported to IRS. This money is send to purchase furniture from 1 city and ship to another. Thanks
