Financial talk

I am currently in my last semester as a mechanical engineering student, and will have a minor in mathmatical finance, would it be worth me doing financial engineering, or is financial engineering built more for finance majors to become more analytical, I've already taken all sorts of programming in C++. What real gain will i get from financial engineering that i dont posess already other than the "lingo" of the industry
