Financial talk

So i went to the beach and dropped my phone in the ocean, it's totally and completely dead now. R.I.P. And so i'm going to verizon tomorrow to look at getting a new phone. My contracts not up yet so it's gonna be alot more money. How do i try and convince my dad to get me a new one? I need some seriously good idea's cause i know my dad isn't especially willing to spend like three hundered bucks on a new phone for me. Please and thank you!
