Open Question: Just about done being trained, and now I am quitting. How can I do this gracefully and avoid resentment?
I'm a college student on summer break.
For the past 2 weeks I have been going through training for my new job. The pay is minimum wage, and it's a very fast-paced job. I'm part time, supposed to only do 20 hours/week, but I've done 35 hour weeks both weeks, because they want to get me trained ASAP so they can hire someone else and train them.
The place is EXTREMELY short staffed. They need at least 5 employees, and right now it is just ME (a trainee) and the manager.
I'm JUST about done being trained, and my boss is very happy because she can now have me in the store by myself at night, and she can train a new girl during the day.
Due to personal and financial reasons I have decided that I am going to be taking a different job in another city, one that will be less stressful, better pay, and more fun.
I feel bad because my manager has been so great, and I hate to leave her after all the work she's put into getting me trained. How can I quit gracefully and avoid her resentment?
