Open Question: Which is the best semi-pro camcorder I can get between £1000 and £1500?

I have this amount of money and have been searching Cnet for months. I'm still undecided, as the prices still seem to keep rising. I've seen Canon's XH-A1 but I it's £500 more in the UK than in the US. Any suggestions and links would be great. Thanks The Famous Peter
