Open Question: Who believes that the Government can run Health Care?

Given the government's history with Social Security and Medicare does anyone believe that the US government can do a better job of running our nation's health care system? I work in the Health Care industry so here is some food for thought that I know to be fact: When the government pays for a health care service they pay bottom dollar. The low government reimbursement causes health care providers to make it up from the private sector via increased insurance premiums which winds up being passed down to the paying consumer. Low reimbursements reduces the number of available health care professionals because they cannot compete and go out of business Fewer health care professionals result in longer wait times. All of this will only get worse when government controls the whole health care system and people will no longer have incentive to spend 12 years in school and incur 100's of thousands of dollars in debt because they will not make enough money to pay off the debt. Not to mention that on average the government operates at about a 30% efficiency rate meaning for every dollar they take in 70 cents goes to government overhead. So how will they be able to do a better job
